Frequently Asked Questions

Student Questions

How do I donate my unwanted stuff?
Between May 5 through May 18, 2008, drop off your gently used loot at a Donation Station in or near MU Residential Life facilities lobbies. Be sure your items are clean and useable.
Where do I drop off my stuff?
Donation Stations will be located in or near each MU residence hall lobby and in Residential Life apartment complexes. Ask your RA if you have any questions.
What can I donate?
Clean clothing, carpeting, working electronics, unopened packages of food, working appliances, etc. Check here for a more complete list and information on preparing your donations.
Is there anything you won't take?
Please do not include personal-care items (shampoo, soap, hairspray, makeup, etc.) with your donations. Dispose of these items in the trash; empty plastic bottles (#1 and #2 plastic) can be recycled by dropping them off in the City of Columbia's drop-off recycling bin by Rollins Dining Hall.
When can I get rid of my stuff?
Donation Stations will be open May 5 through May 18 for students living in MU Residential Life facilities. Need a reminder? Add it to your calendar (What is this?).
Where will my stuff go?
Donated items will be collected by volunteers who will sort, price and sell them at the May 31, 2008 Tiger Treasures Rummage Sale. Donated food will be given to participating United Way agencies.
Who benefits from my donation?
Proceeds from the rummage sale and early-bird admission fees benefit participating United Way agencies.
Why should I donate my stuff?
Each day more than 8,700 pounds of recyclable material ends up in the landfill. Donating your unwanted items keeps useable items out of the landfill and proceeds from their sale benefit the community.
I live off-campus — can I give you my unwanted stuff, too?
Donations will only be accepted this year from students living in MU Residential Life facilities and students living in fraternities and sororities.
