MU's first end-of-semester recycling event, Tiger Treasures will begin May 1 for students living in residence halls, fraternities and sororities. Students will be asked to donate their gently used, unwanted belongings for a community rummage sale.

"This is a great opportunity for students to help the environment," said Steve Burdic, Campus Facilities – Landscape Services' Solid Waste/Recycling Coordinator. "When they move out at the end of the semester, students throw out thousands of pounds of useable items, rather than haul them home. Tiger Treasures gives them the opportunity to donate their unwanted stuff for a rummage sale that benefits the community."

"Donation Stations" will be set up from May 1 through May 12 to take students' donations. Volunteers will collect, sort and price the items, then sell them at the Tiger Treasures Rummage Sale.

The rummage sale will be held from 6 a.m. to noon June 2 on the east side of Memorial Stadium. Admission is free from 7 a.m. to noon. Early-bird admission at 6 a.m. costs $5. Proceeds from the admission fee and sale will benefit the Salvation Army.
