Map Tools:
Toggle Legend/Layers list: Click this once to switch from the Layers list (default) on the right to a map legend showing the symbol colors. Click again to switch back.
Toggle Overview Map: Click this once to hide the overview map shown in the upper lefthand corner of the map window. Click again to show the overview map.
Zoom In: Select this tool and then click the map to zoom in, or click and drag to draw a rectangle around the area you want to view.
Zoom Out: Works like Zoom In, but reverse zoom.
Zoom to Full Extent: Displays the full map extent of all layers.
Zoom to Active Layer: In the Layers list on the right, activate a layer by clicking in the radio button in the second column. Then when you click on this tool, the map will zoom in to the area encompassed by that layer. Use this tool to select a site from the list and zoom to it directly.
Zoom to Last: Clicking this tool will return to the previous map display.
Pan: When this tool is selected, you can click and drag on the map to move around the display without changing the map scale.
Hyperlink: Use this tool to click on any feature in the active layer and a popup window will open showing a photo of that feature. Try it!
Identify: When a layer has been activated in the Layers list, you can use this tool to select any feature from that layer and the window below the map will display the attributes associated with that feature. Very handy for identifying buildings or streets.
Query: This tool also works on the active layer. When you select this tool, a form will appear below the map. Fill in the fields to query that layer based on existing attributes. Warning: Case sensitive!
Find: This tool will search the active layer’s attributes for the text entered in the field. This is also case sensitive! We recommend using all caps for most searches.
Measure: This tool can be used to measure distances between points on the map. The values will be displayed in the upper left corner.
Select with Rectangle: When this tool is selected, you can click and drag to draw a rectangle anywhere on the map. All features in the active layer that are inside the rectangle or that intersect it will be highlighted and their attributes displayed below the map.
Select with Line or Polygon: Similar to the tool above, but you click to connect points and draw a line or polygon in order to select features from the active layer.
Clear Selection: Clears any selections made in a previous query.
