Your House on Campus

Welcome to the interactive Your House on Campus flash movie. When discussing construction on campus one of the most common questions asked is "Why does it cost so much?" In response to this question Donald J. Guckert and Jeri Ripley King wrote an article which was published in the Facilities Manager, May/June 2003 issue. Click here to view the article. There is a section in the article that takes a look at a regular house and gives an overview of what it would take to renovate your house into a campus facility.

The Your House on Campus movie takes this article a step further by making it animated and interactive. You can toggle between Your House, a simple residential house, and Your House on Campus, the renovated version. To toggle between views click on the "Swap" button located in the bottom left hand corner of the movie. Once you are in the Your House on Campus view you can click on a room or object to view more information about them. If you click on a room a 3D rendering of the room appears and you can click on an object in the room to view an explanation of why this particular object is necessary for campus facilities. An object or room becomes highlighted when you roll your mouse over them. While in the "room view" you can place your mouse on the "Show All" button to display where all the objects are located. You can also "Show All" the objects and rooms while in the Your House on Campus view by rolling over the "Your House On Campus" button located at the bottom of the movie. While viewing the information on certain objects you will see the "PDF" button. Clicking on the "PDF" button will open up a pdf document with all the objects and their information for the associated room. To view a pdf of all the objects you can click on the "Full Report" button located at the bottom right hand corner while in the Your House on Campus view.
