Landscape Services: Awards
In 2006, MU was declared "National Champion" in the university category by America in Bloom at its national awards ceremony. MU also received a special-recognition citation award in the organization's Urban Forestry category. America in Bloom, headquartered in Ohio, is an independent, privately funded, volunteer-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Its annual, nationwide contest encourages civic involvement and gives national recognition to municipalities and universities in the United States for their floral accomplishments.
In 2004, Landscape Services was given the Missouri Arbor Award of Excellence by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Community Forestry Council "for improving Missouri communities through stewardship of our community forests."
In 2000, Landscape Services won the Professional Grounds Maintenance Grand Award in the college and university category from the Professional Grounds Management Society.
