Green Chapel patrons deal with challenges of construction work

by Jon Stemmle

Couples hoping for a picture-perfect wedding at the A.P. Green Chapel this summer may want to put a hold on their nuptials.

Wedding parties already booked for the summer know about the construction and, so far, only one group has cancelled, according to Shannon Marino, administrative associate in student services. Marino explained that additional wedding parties will not be booked, which will hurt the chapel's lucrative summer business.

"The construction company has been really good in working with us, but we decided it was easier to stop booking the chapel for the summer,'' said Marino. "If it rains or something, we don't want to worry about someone falling in a mud pit.''

Marino added that, aside from the weather, the only worry is where wedding photos will be taken.

"We're just hoping the flower beds around the chapel will still be there and will be accessible for pictures,'' she said.
