MU master planner honored with Founder's Award
ack Robinson, MU campus master planner, was honored by
the Society for College and University Planning with the 1996 Founder's
Award for Distinguished Achievement in Higher Education. Robinson
has served as MU's master planner since 1982.
The MU master plan is an ongoing "planning guide" for
the MU campus. The plan's purpose is to ensure that campus land
and facilities are used efficiently and that the beauty of the
MU campus is maintained.
Each year, the master plan is presented to faculty,
students and staff for their input, and the plan is updated and
reshaped to meet changing needs.
As master planner, Robinson has been instrumental
in guiding the MU campus through a period of unprecedented growth,
involving faculty, students and staff in the planning process,
and developing campus planning principles.
He has presided over more than 50 public hearings
about the master plan and met with hundreds of individuals and
groups at MU.
Robinson has served as master planner for other institutions
such as University of Colorado, University of Rochester, the Mayo
Clinic, the Gardner Museum, Brown University, University of Puerto
Rico, Cornell University, and several preparatory schools.
