Step by Step: How to request urgent maintenance service
hen you have a problem — whether it's a broken window,
a classroom that is too hot, or a spouting water leak — you want
it solved quickly and with as little disruption
to your day as possible. Our maintenance staff has the following
suggestions on what you can do to get the most efficient service.
- Identify
the problem as completely as you can.
What's going on? Where is the problem — in what building, area, room, or
office? When did you notice the problem? Designate an individual in your
area who will serve as the contact person for the problem. When you call
the Service Desk, tell them the contact person's name, location, and phone
number.
- Determine
if it is an urgent or emergency situation.
An urgent situation is one that interferes
with the functioning of your office such as
a broken window, a water
leak, or an extreme building temperature. An emergency situation
is one that is life-threatening such as a fire.
- Contact
the appropriate service provider.
If it is an urgent maintenance situation, call the Campus
Facilities Service Desk at 882-8211 to request service.
Tell them as much as you can about
the problem. If it is a problem affecting others in your building, you
also should inform your building coordinator. If it is an emergency situation,
call 911 immediately. Campus Facilities is not an emergency response provider — your
911 operator will dispatch the necessary emergency response personnel for
your problem.
- What
to do if your problem occurs after business hours.
Campus Facilities provides service coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From
7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, you should call the Service Desk
with your maintenance request. If you experience a problem after hours that must
be handled before the next business day, you should call 882-3333. (If you call
the Service Desk after hours, the message will instruct you to call this number.)
At the after-hours number, Campus Facilities staff will alert or call in appropriate
service personnel to take care of your problem.
